Le Verdigris is inspired by verdigris—the beautiful patina that develops naturally over time, transforming aged copper and bronze into a distinctive blue-green.

To us, patina is more than a colour. It is a mark of time, craftsmanship and character. It reminds us that something does not have to be new to be beautiful. With time, care and authenticity, a true masterpiece can become even more meaningful.

That philosophy is at the heart of Le Verdigris.

A Story Woven Through Generations

The story of Le Verdigris began with my grandmother.

She would spin thread on a traditional charkha, turning simple fibres into something useful with patience, skill and love. Among the memories that stayed with me were the beautiful traditional drawstrings she made for salwar—known as nara or azarband.

These were not simply cords.

They were sooti yarn, woven into greige-toned naras, made to be threaded through the nephah (waistband) of the salwar. In many homes, this was an everyday craft—quietly made by hand, passed from one generation to another.

The simplicity of that craft has stayed with us.

From the Charkha to Le Verdigris

At Le Verdigris, we carry that same respect for handmade craft, natural materials and thoughtful making into contemporary design.

We work with traditions such as crochet, macramé, handloom and jacquard, alongside materials including cotton, jute, raffia, silk and wool.

We incorporate natural stones and copper, and wherever possible, we give materials another life by using recycled stainless steel and other thoughtfully sourced materials.

Our designs are modern, but their soul comes from somewhere much older.

From the hands that spun the yarn.
From the women who wove the nara.
From the crafts that were made not for fashion, but because making was part of life.

We believe sustainability is not only about what we make today. It is also about remembering what was made before us.

Traditional crafts carry knowledge that cannot always be reproduced by machines—the rhythm of the hand, the character of natural fibres, and the small imperfections that make every handmade piece unique.
